Custom-made wig vs factory-made wig

When people think about buying a wig, most of them don’t realise they’re not just picking a hairstyle; they’re choosing an experience. Having worked with women from all walks of life, from brides to female bosses and students, I’ve learnt that choosing the right wig is deeply personal. It’s not just about the price tag but also how it fits, feels, and if it truly lets you shine every day. That’s why one of the biggest decisions you’ll face on your wig journey is whether to go for a custom-made wig or a factory-made wig.  They might both be wigs, but they offer very different experiences. From how they’re built to how they sit on your head to how long they last, the difference goes far beyond appearance. What is a custom wig? Just like the name implies, a custom wig is built for you. This isn’t something that’s sitting on a shelf waiting for a buyer. It’s made from scratch for your head. We start with your head measurements, the exact shape and size of your scalp. From there, the wig is constructed by hand, strand by strand, often using premium-quality human hair. You choose the thickness, length, parting, lace type, and sometimes even where the hair is from. What is a factory-made wig? A factory-made wig is the opposite of a custom wig. Unlike custom wigs, which are made by hand, this one is mass-produced using machines. They are ready-to-wear and often cheaper. It comes in standard sizes (small, medium, or large) and is already pre-styled or shaped. While some of them are human hair and can look beautiful, the key difference is that they are made to fit “most people,” not you. They are convenient and affordable So, What Are the Differences? The Fit:  It’s a no-brainer to know which of these two gives the perfect fit. Custom wigs fit like a second skin because they are made for you using your exact head measurements. I measure your head circumference, hairline, and nape to make sure the fit is snug and secure. No pulling. No sliding. No awkward gaps. During your wig fitting appointment, you get to try it on and request adjustments, whether you want an elastic band for extra grip or a perfectly fitted cap without one. In contrast, factory-made wigs come in standard sizes like small, medium, or large, created to “fit ”most” but not necessarily you. If your wig has ever felt too tight, left gaps around your hairline, or moved around throughout the day, it’s likely because it wasn’t tailored to your head.  Styling and Personalisation: This is where custom wigs truly stand out. A custom unit is made with you in mind — your style, your routine, and your comfort. You get to choose: It’s not just a wig; it’s your style, your way. Built for your life, not just the photos. Factory wigs, on the other hand, come with a fixed look: preset lace, fixed parting, and standard thickness. What’s in the box is what you get; no tailoring, no tweaks. Longevity/Lifespan: Custom wigs are made with care and high-quality materials, they’re built to last. While proper care helps any wig last longer, a good custom wig can last 2 to 5 years.  We’ve had clients wear their custom wigs for years. We just revamp, restyle, or update the fit when needed. Whether it’s replacing the closure or refreshing the style, we can keep it feeling new without starting over. That flexibility makes custom so worth it. Factory wigs, on the other hand, don’t always go the distance. They’re often made with lower-density hair, less durable lace, and faster stitching which means they tangle more easily, shed faster, and lose shape quickly. So if you’re after something that lasts, custom wigs win  every time. Build Quality:  At HairwithBlessing, our custom wigs are done by hand or machine, bundle by bundle. Every detail is carefully considered, from the weft placement to the lace matching your skin tone. It’s personal, takes time, and is intentional.  Factory units are mass-produced for speed, not precision. The stitching might not be as secure, the hair might not last as long, and often, there’s no real consistency between one wig and the next. The Experience Is Personal:  There’s something truly special about knowing your wig was made just for you. It fits your head. It frames your face. It blends into your life. And if anything goes wrong, you know exactly who to come back to. It’s comforting to have someone who knows how your wig was built from day one. That kind of relationship and reassurance just doesn’t come with a pre-packed wig.  With factory wigs, there’s no follow-up, no aftercare, and no one to call if it doesn’t fit right. You’re on your own. Which one is right for you? Go for a custom-made wig if you wear wigs regularly or daily and want a wig that feels secure, looks natural, and lasts long. More importantly, if you value quality and comfort over quick fixes. Factory-made wigs are a good choice if you need something fast and affordable or wear wigs occasionally. You can also consider it if you’re experimenting with new colours or lengths before committing. Ultimately, the best wig is the one that gives you peace of mind. A custom wig gives you that peace, because it was made just for you. From the fit to the flow, everything is tailored to suit you. You wear it and step out without second-guessing. A factory-made wig gives you flexibility for quick changes, tight budgets, or trial looks. And when it’s styled right, it can still turn heads. Still unsure which to choose? Let’s chat. Send us a message or book a free consultation. We’ll walk you through your options and help you find a wig that fits your life, your look, and your budget. Your wig should never feel like a costume. It should feel like you.

Frontal vs Closure

Many individuals choose to wear wigs to manage thinning hair or to protect and maintain the health of their natural hair. With so many wig options, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed, especially if you’re just getting started. However, two popular types of wigs often spark confusion, which are closure and frontal wigs. They both offer a natural-looking hairline and versatility when it comes to styling. Yet, they are different in terms of construction, application, and overall look. Choosing between a closure and a frontal can seem daunting, especially with so many opinions online. However, as someone who has worked with wigs for years, styling them, installing them, and answering every possible question, I can tell you this: the right choice depends on more than just looks.  What is a closure wig?  A closure wig is a type of wig that features a small piece, typically made of lace or silk, at the crown of the head. This closure piece mimics the natural scalp and provides a realistic hairline. Closure wigs are perfect for those who want a natural-looking hairline without the commitment of a full lace wig. They are also simple to wear.  What is a frontal wig?  A frontal is a type of lace piece that covers the entire front hairline, stretching from one ear to the other. It usually measures 13 inches across and extends about 4-6 inches backward, giving you coverage at the front of your head. It’s often attached to hair bundles, but it can also be used to create a full wig. A properly installed frontal can look exactly like your natural hairline, especially when it’s laid well. What’s the difference between a frontal and a closure? 1. Coverage: A closure covers only a small portion at the front of your head, usually the middle part or a natural side part. Most closures come in 4×4, 5×5, or 6×6 lace sizes, which means they give you enough space to part your hair but not enough to do much else. It sits right in the center or slightly to the side and is perfect for people who like to stick to the same hairstyle most of the time.  Frontal wigs, on the other hand, give full coverage of your front hairline, which means you can part it anywhere you like: middle, side, or even do a slick-back look. It gives the illusion that the hair is growing directly from your scalp. 2. Styling: Closures are awesome for people who like to keep it simple. You can wear a middle part, maybe a side part, but you won’t be able to pull the hair back into a ponytail or change the parting often. A free part closure doesn’t have a defined part, which means you can part it anywhere you like, giving you more flexibility. A middle part closure comes with a clean part down the centre for that classic, balanced look. Then there’s the three-part closure, which has preset parts on the middle, left, and right sides that can be changed as you like without anyone being the wiser.  Frontals are more versatile. It gives room to create various styles with the wigs or hair extensions. A frontal can be worn as you please because it mimics the natural hairline. 3. Installation and Maintenance: Closure wigs are beginner-friendly. They don’t need much work to install and can even be worn glueless. They’re perfect for everyday wear, especially if you want something simple to throw on and go. Less lace = less stress. Frontals require more effort to install. Most times, they need to be glued or melted down to lie flat, especially if you want that natural hairline look. Due to the size of the lace, they also need a bit more maintenance, from reapplying glue and restyling baby hairs to touching up lace tint. They look amazing but are a little high-maintenance. 4. Cost: Closures are more affordable. They use less lace and take less time to install, which means you’ll save on both the wig and the salon fee. If you’re on a budget or just starting your wig journey, a closure is a smart and stylish choice. Frontals are more expensive because they offer more lace, more versatility, and more of a natural finish. They also take longer to install. So while they’re gorgeous, they’re an investment. 5. Hair Protection: Closures are gentler on your natural hair. This is because they don’t require glue and sit neatly over your cornrows; they’re a great protective style that won’t stress your edges. You can wear them regularly without worrying about damage. Frontals, especially if they’re installed with glue, can weaken your hairline over time if not done carefully. If you’re wearing one regularly, it’s super important to give your edges a break and install them the right way. Picking the right one for you Team Closures: If you’re new to wigs, prefer simple styles like a middle or side part, don’t want anything too high-maintenance, and are trying to stick to a budget while still protecting your natural hair, then a closure wig is your best bet. Team Frontals: Frontals are high maintenance and more expensive than closures. However, you can go for them if you enjoy changing up your look with different styles. They give the most natural-looking hairline and are perfect if you’re going for bold, sleek styles. At Hair With Blessing, I always remind my clients that it’s not just about what looks good; it’s about what feels good, what fits into your life, and what lets you move through your day with confidence. Whether you’re going to work, school, church, or date night, your hair should feel effortless and beautiful. Still unsure about which one to choose? Send me a message, and I’ll help you figure out the best choice based on your budget and style.

5 Simple DIY Wig Revamp Tips

If you’re anything like my clients, you probably have an old wig sitting in your closet, looking a little tired, tangled, or not giving what it used to. But before you think about tossing it, let me tell you a secret—most wigs just need a little care to bounce back. As a hairstylist, I’ve revived countless wigs, and today, I’m sharing five easy, at-home techniques you can use to restore your wig and make it look brand new again. Think of it as a mini spa day for your wig, and you’ll be amazed at the transformation. 1. Gentle Washing: This is the first step to revival. Washing. Just like our hair, wigs collect dirt, sweat, and product buildup. The first step to a wig revival is a good, gentle wash. Forget harsh shampoos! I like to use a sulfate-free shampoo, the kind you’d use on delicate hair. Fill a basin with lukewarm water (hot water can damage the fibres) and add a small amount of shampoo. Submerge your wig and gently swish it around. Don’t rub or twist! Think of it like giving your wig a gentle bath. Rinse thoroughly with cool water until all the shampoo is removed. 2. Deep Conditioning: After washing, conditioning is crucial. Most people don’t know that a conditioner restores moisture and softness, preventing that dry, brittle look.  So, after washing, apply a good-quality wig conditioner (or a regular conditioner for delicate hair) from the mid-shaft to the ends. Let it sit for a few minutes (10–15 minutes), just like you would with your hair. Then, rinse thoroughly with cool water. This step will bring back that silky feel, trust me! Avoid applying conditioner to the wig’s roots or lace, as it can loosen the knots and cause shedding. 3. Detangling: As a hairstylist, I’ve come to realise that winning the battle against tangled hair is by being patient, and more importantly, the way you detangle matters. The key here is to be patient and gentle. Tangles are one of the biggest reasons wigs start looking old. While your wig is still damp, use a wide-toothed comb or a wig brush to carefully detangle it. Start at the ends and work your way up. Don’t force it! If you encounter a stubborn tangle, spray a little leave-in conditioner or detangling spray. It makes the process much smoother and prevents damage.  4. Styling: This is one of my favourite parts. I love to style my wigs in different ways, and you can too. Once your wig is detangled and mostly dry, you can style it. Want volume? Use rollers or a blow dryer with a round brush. Change the parting or trim the ends for a fresh look. If your wig is heat-resistant, use low heat to curl or straighten. For heatless styling, braid the wig while damp and let it air dry for beautiful waves. A little bit of styling product, like a light hairspray or serum, can help keep your style in place. Remember, less is more! 5. Proper Storage: Finally, proper storage is essential for extending your wig’s lifespan. Don’t just toss it in a drawer! I recommend storing it on a wig stand or a mannequin head. This helps maintain its shape and prevents tangling. If you don’t have a wig stand, you can gently fold it and store it in a silk or satin bag. Avoid storing it in direct sunlight or in a hot, humid place, as this can damage the fibres. Taking care of your wig’s storage is like investing in its longevity. Revamping an old wig doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Bring your wig back to life at home with these five simple techniques! And if you need the right products and tools, you can find them in our online or walk-in store.

Top 10 Wig Care Mistakes You’re Probably Making/People make

One thing no one really tells you when you buy a wig is how much care it actually needs. We’re all guilty of it—tossing a wig on the dresser after a long day, forgetting to detangle it, or even using the wrong products because they seemed “close enough.” And before you know it, that once bouncy, luxurious hair starts looking dull, stiff, or just plain tired. As a wig vendor and hairstylist, I’ve had countless clients bring in their wigs, hoping for a miracle. They tell me how the hair used to shine, how it framed their face perfectly, and now… well, let’s just say the wig is begging for some love.  Wigs are like our natural hair; they should be cared for as well. I get it, though. Life gets busy, and caring for your wig can feel overwhelming when you don’t know where to start. That’s exactly why I’m here—to help you avoid those common wig care mistakes that sneak up on even the most seasoned wig lovers. Trust me, we’ve all been there, but with a little guidance, your wigs can stay looking flawless for years to come. Here are the top 10 wig care mistakes you might be making and how to fix them. 1. Avoid using normal hairspray on your wigs:   Regular hairspray has no place on your wigs since most sprays include alcohol, which dries out and renders the hair brittle. Instead, use a wig-friendly hairspray formulated to enhance grip without taking the life out of your strands. It makes a world of difference, trust me (hairspray recommendation). 2. Don’t neglect your natural hair Yes, you read that correctly. Our wigs are to elevate our looks, but when the natural hair isn’t well cared for, it can affect how your wig sits.  Not taking care of your scalp can lead to buildup, itching, and even hair loss. Keep your natural hair clean, moisturised, and braided neatly to protect it and make your wig lay flawlessly. 3. Not having a consistent wig care routine: Wig care should be part of your routine because wigs thrive on consistency. Leaving your wig till it starts looking rough or smelly before taking care of it shortens its lifespan. You don’t have to wait weeks or months before taking it to the stylist; you can do it yourself. A wig care routine is simple—detangle, wash, condition, and properly store your wig using a wig bag. Your wig elevates your looks; give it the pampering it deserves. More importantly, stick to your wig care routine like it is your beauty BFF! Check out our Instagram to see how you can wash and style a wig. 4. Overplucking your hairline: Don’t we just love a natural hairline? Honestly, a natural hairline is the goal. However, over-plucking the hairline can leave your wig looking sparse and patchy. If you’re unsure, pluck a little at a time and step back to check your progress. Or better yet, get a pro to do it. You don’t want to damage that hair.  5. Dyeing your wig frequently: Colouring is one of my favourite things to do as a hairstylist. It gives room for creativity. It allows me to switch up my look as much as I want. Trust me, experimenting with colour is fun, but constant dyeing weakens the hair fibres. If you enjoy changing colours, consider getting wigs in several hues or temporary hair sprays. This gives you the best of both worlds: healthy hair and vibrant colour. 6. Applying too much leave-in or styling products: It’s easy to think more product equals better results, but with wigs, less is often more. Slathering on too much leave-in conditioner, oil, or styling cream can weigh the hair down, leaving it limp and greasy. Use lightweight products and start with a small amount; you can always add more if needed. However, if you notice your wig starts feeling heavy or sticky, it might be time for a gentle wash to reset the hair. 7. Pulling the wig without properly removing the glue: After a long day, you just want the wig off, but yanking it without care is a recipe for disaster. The lace can tear, your edges thin out, and suddenly, that flawless install doesn’t look so flawless anymore. Always use a lace adhesive remover; your hairline will thank you. Let the remover sit for a few minutes, then gently peel the lace back. If you feel resistance, don’t force it—add more remover and be patient. Taking a few extra minutes now saves you from weeks of damage repair later. (Glue Remover) 8. Excessive heat: We all love a sleek, bone-straight look or bouncy curls, but excessive heat is a silent wig killer. Constantly blasting your wig with high heat fries the hair, making it brittle and lifeless. If you must use heat, always apply a heat protectant spray and keep the temperature low. And if you have a synthetic wig, make sure it’s heat-resistant; otherwise, one wrong move could melt the fibres. When possible, opt for heatless styling methods like flexi rods or foam rollers to keep your wig looking fresh without the damage. 9. Too big cornrows: Think of your cornrow pattern as the foundation; the flatter, the better. Smaller, neatly done cornrows create a smooth, snug base that lets your wig lay seamlessly. giving you that scalp-like illusion we all love. Big, bulky cornrows might be quicker to install, but they create bumps under your wig, making it look unnatural.  10. Over-styling your baby hairs: Baby hairs might be the perfect finishing touch for a laid wig, but styling them too frequently will damage your lace. Constant manipulation, heavy gels, and repeated brushing can thin out the hairline and weaken the lace, causing it to rip or bald prematurely. Instead, keep it simple. Style your baby hairs with a lightweight mousse, and try to avoid restyling them daily. When you take off your wig, clean the lace gently to prevent

How to Choose the Perfect Wig for Your Face Shape

Your face shape determines which type of wig works best for you. The wig cap, style, colour, and feel of the hair—whether it’s synthetic or human—are the main considerations we focus on when purchasing a wig. One thing we keep forgetting to consider is our “face shape.”  Finding a wig that accentuates your characteristics requires careful consideration of your face shape, just like picking the ideal wig.  Think of it like this: a killer outfit looks so much better when it flatters your body type. Wigs are no different! Your best features can be accentuated, your proportions can be balanced, and you can achieve chef’s kiss perfection with the correct wig.Figuring out your face shape is super easy! Once you know your face shape, you’ll be on your way to finding the perfect wig.  Long face shape: A long face is longer than it is wide, with a similar width at the forehead, cheeks, and jawline. Think of it as a stretched oval. The length of the face is the most dominant feature. The forehead may be high, and the chin slightly pointed or rounded. As the face width is narrow, the aim is to create the illusion of a wider face.  For this face shape, the best wig styles include shoulder/chin-length bobs, wigs with bangs, and wavy or curly wigs, which are perfect for this shape. Oval Shape: This is called “the golden face shape” because of its versatility. It is characterised by a narrow jaw and a round hairline. Oval faces can carry off almost any wig style, giving you the freedom to experiment and have fun. You can explore with different textures and styles such as pixie cuts, straight lob wigs, finger waves, long wavy wigs, long curly wigs, kinky curl wigs, and wigs with bangs. Square face: If you have a wide and strong angular jaw, which is the same width as your forehead, then you have a square face shape. The face is generally as wide as it is long, creating a square appearance. The jawline is often the most prominent feature. Any wig style you choose should be aimed at softening the angles and creating a more rounded appearance. Avoid straight styles that end at the jawline because they overemphasise the face’s sharp angles. Instead, try wigs with wispy bangs, long bob (extending beyond the chin), mid-length wigs with deep side-part, and long layered wigs Round face: Like its name, the face is circular. Instead of angles, the cheeks are full and rounded. Wigs that create fullness and height at the crown and stay flatter at the cheekbones are best for round shapes. Such wigs include asymmetric pixie, voluminous wavy wigs, straight wigs, and wavy mid-length hair. Heart face: People with a heart face shape have a wide forehead, high angular cheekbones, and a narrow chin. It looks like an upside-down triangle. Like the oval shape, you can wear any wig style. However, it’s best to avoid styles with fullness and height at the crown, as they can over-accentuate the narrow chin and create an unbalanced look. Wigs with bangs, long straight hair, and bobs with layers are best suited for this shape. Wondering what your face shape is? Grab a mirror and examine your features using this guide. Selecting the ideal wig is about accentuating your natural face shape as much as the style and texture. Remember, the goal is to highlight your best look.

Wig Terminologies You Should Know

Do you ever feel lost in the sea of wig options, unsure which one to choose or how to differentiate between them? Learning the terminologies associated with wigs is one way to differentiate wigs and make an accurate choice. This reduces confusion and makes it much easier to select your preferred wig. As a professional wig manufacturer with over a decade of experience, I have assisted several clients in finding the ideal wig to fit their style, personality, and budget. I have personally seen the transformational impact of a high-quality wig and the confidence boost it can bring to someone who is undergoing hair loss or wants to modify their appearance. This has made it easy for me to become intimately familiar with the many wig terminologies, and I know that these can be confusing to someone who is new to the world of wigs. Whether you are a first-time wig buyer or a seasoned wig wearer, understanding these wig terminologies can help you find the perfect wig to fit your needs and style. Wig Cap: This is the base of a wig used to secure the hair to the head. Wig caps come in different materials, including lace, monofilament, and wafted. Lace Front Wig: This is designed to create a natural-looking hairline. Lace front wigs can be made with different types of lace, including French lace and Swiss lace. Lace front wigs provide the benefit of a nearly invisible hairline, allowing for hair styling away from the face. The mesh material makes the scalp visible, and you can easily tuck or pull back the wig’s hair without exposing the wig cap. This grants you flexibility and a natural appearance. Full Lace Wig: Full lace wigs are typically more expensive than other types of wigs because they are hand-tied and require a lot of time to create. Hand-knotting the hair into the lace enables you to bond the entire wig to your head, rather than just the front section. This might necessitate the use of a stronger adhesive or a different type of glue. Glueless Lace Wig: A glueless lace wig is a type of wig that is designed to be worn without the use of adhesive. The wig cap has combs and adjustable straps that allow for a secure and comfortable fit without the need for glue or tape. HD Lace: HD lace is a fine, delicate lace material that is used in wigs to give a more natural-looking hairline. It’s constructed of a finer, softer material than typical Swiss lace, so it’s less noticeable on the scalp and blends in smoothly with the skin. HD lace wigs are popular due to their realistic appearance, which appears to be growing directly from the scalp. They are also noted for their breathability, making them more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Swiss Lace: Swiss lace wigs create a natural-looking hairline that appears like the hair is growing from the scalp. However, the lace material is thicker and less transparent compared to HD lace, which can make it slightly more visible on the scalp but also more durable. Monofilament Wigs: They are known for their breathability and comfort. It has a base made of a thin, transparent material that mimics the appearance of a natural scalp. Wefted Wig: It is also called a Capless wig which doesn’t mean that it’s completely without a cap. In this type of wig, the hair wefts made of human or synthetic hair are stitched using a machine onto strips of material. In capless or wafted wigs, the spacing between these rows is relatively more significant, particularly at the crown’s top. Single Weft Wig: A single-weft wig is one that has the hair sewn on in a single layer to the wig cap. Due to this, the wig is lighter and more breathable than double-weft wigs. Single-weft wigs are great for people who want a more natural-looking wig that is also easy to wear for long periods of time. They are also less difficult to style and maintain than thicker wigs. Double Weft Wig: In this case, the hair is woven onto the wig cap in two layers. This results in a fuller, voluminous wig with higher hair density. Double-weft wigs are great for those who desire a wig with additional volume and body. They are, however, thicker and less breathable than single-weft wigs, making them less ideal for long-term wear. Due to their greater density, double-weft wigs can be more difficult to style and care for. Density: This is the amount of hair that is used in a wig. Density is typically measured in percentages, with 100% being the least dense and 200% being the densest. Heat Resistant: Wigs that are made with heat-resistant fibers can be styled with heat tools like flat irons and curling irons. Synthetic Wig: This is made with synthetic fibers rather than human hair. Synthetic wigs are often less expensive than human hair wigs and require less maintenance, but they cannot be styled with heat tools. Human Hair Wig: Human hair wigs are known for their natural look and feel but are typically more expensive than synthetic wigs. Ombre: A coloring technique where the hair gradually blends from one color to another. Ombre wigs are popular because they add depth and dimension to the hair. Wig revamping: this is another important term that people interested in wigs should know. It refers to the process of restoring or improving the condition of an older or damaged wig. Over time, wigs can become tangled, frayed, or lose their shape. Wig revamping can involve a variety of techniques, including detangling, washing, restyling, redefining the parting space, replacing the wig cap, and adding hair or volume Frontal Wig: Frontals are typically made with lace to match the wearer’s skin tone in order to give it a more natural-looking hairline. They allow for more versatile styling options than regular lace front wigs such as splitting the hair in various ways and drawing

Evolution of Wigs

Looking at that beautiful piece of hair you just got, you can’t wait to wear it and flaunt it. You say a quick prayer to whoever thought of wigs and invented them because they now save lives. Over the years, wigs have evolved in style, texture, and color. A wig is a fake hair covering you wear on your head, for example, if you have little hair or wish to cover up your natural hair. Wigs are not newly invented beauty products; they date way back to 3400 BC in ancient Egypt. That era had another fashion sense, and of course, the wigs were used for different purposes. Egypt is known to be a hot country, and during this period, the Egyptians found it difficult to manage their hair, and as such, they resorted to shaving their heads. To protect their heads and also look fashionable, they created wigs out of fiber, leaf, wool, animal hair, and human hair. Even in the ancient strata, wigs were also used to separate the lower class from the elites. The elites had beautiful wigs made with human hair and other adornments; the lower class had wigs made from fiber and leaf. Imagine not having the present-day equipment used to make wigs; that must have been a demanding task. The wigs were expensive to make, and it took weeks before one was successfully installed. In that era, wigs were worn for special occasions and to protect their heads from head lice. Wigs didn’t just stop with the Egyptians. It changed once more. For their special occasions, the British and the French also wore wigs. However, it was more of a masculine fashion than a female vogue at the time. Their wigs were powdered. Also, it was known as the “white-colored wig.” The French King accepted wearing wigs since his hair was falling off. He will wear the wigs while conducting his royal duties each morning after having his hair shaved by the staff. Wigs were employed, as in previous centuries, to distinguish the upper class from the middle class. It was fashionable, the center of their style, and highly pricey. Those without the means had to style their hair to resemble one. Let’s move on to the period when wigs became widely available. This was the age when wig manufacturers achieved their greatest success. They fully committed and developed a variety of wig hairstyles, including pompadour rolls, frisettes, fringes, switches, and fronts. It was a full-fledged enterprise. The hairdressers enjoyed a successful line of work. The entertainment sector encouraged the usage of wigs around the turn of the 20th century. The musicians and performers frequently wore wigs when they entered the stage. They were wearing elegantly cut wig designs. Big, curly afro hair became popular later in 1970. Black Americans, men, and women embraced the dramatic afro wigs more and more. The adoption of these wigs by black entertainers helped to further establish their popularity. Black people’s natural hair texture was an afro, and afro wigs rose to popularity during the Civil Rights and Black Power movements. Before this time, the only options for wig-making were straight styles, but with the introduction of curly, large hair, individuals had options. It signaled the start of innovation in the wig industry. Wigs of the present day are distinct from wigs of the past. Modern tools and creativity allowed people to switch from wearing synthetic to human hair wigs. Contrary to earlier wigs, those used today have a significant improvement in authenticity and fashion. Modern wigs feature lovely tresses and natural hairlines, unlike wigs from the past. Wigs today cost a reasonable price. People who couldn’t afford human hair in the past had no choice but to wear synthetic wigs, but today, thanks to a wide range of pricing points, every woman can wear one. Various individuals can boldly and stylishly rock their wigs. They come in different designs and hues. There are several installation methods, including a frontal, a closure, and others, for the hairlines. What about the texture? Modern wigs come in a variety of textures, ranging from curly to bone straight. There are numerous options available. Wigs are no longer restricted to a single style or color. They are now styled to match your natural hair. Wigs are also worn by cancer patients who lost their hair after chemotherapy and by ladies who have permanent hair loss. The evolution of the wig is fascinating. It shifted from functionality to fashion. Not only that, but it allowed ladies a simpler and faster way to appear beautiful without breaking the budget.
