How to Prep for Your Hair Appointment

Heading into the salon with your hair prepped can make all the difference in how the service rendered to you turns out and how quickly it gets done. Over the years, I’ve found that clear preparation not only speeds things up but also keeps our clients comfortable and stress-free. This process ensures that your appointment delivers exactly what you want. Here is what you need to know or do before you arrive for each of our key services.

1. Relax, cut, and style Pixie

When you book this service, you’re choosing to soften your natural curl or wave pattern into a low-maintenance pixie cut that highlights your best features.

To get the most out of this process, we advise our clients to resist the urge to scratch, brush hard, or wash their hair for at least 3-5 days before their appointment. This hands-off window keeps your scalp calm so you won’t experience irritation or burns when we apply the relaxer. Your hair should be dry, detangled, and in its natural state, with no braids, twists, or heavy products. If you’ve had any scalp issues or irritation recently, let us know in advance so we can adjust the process.

    2. Frontal and Closure Installs

A frontal or closure install uses a lace piece to recreate your hairline for a natural finish.

If you’re reusing your closure or frontal, please make sure to remove all glue and product buildup; a clean lace makes for the cleanest and flattest install. And if you’ve ever had an allergic reaction to wig adhesives, kindly tell us ahead of time.

To ensure the lace lies perfectly flat, we recommend you come with your hair washed, dried, and detangled unless you’ve added a prep wash to your booking. However, if you don’t want to do this yourself, you can mail your lace piece in advance so it’s ready as soon as you sit for your appointment.

      3. Sew-in and Glued Tracks

For this service, we fasten hair extensions onto your cornrows to add instant length and volume without heat. To get a flawless outcome, your hair needs to be clean, dry, and completely detangled. If you’re unsure whether it’s ready, simply book a wash & blow-dry before your installation. And if you’re opting for glued tracks, skip oils and heavy leave-in products, as they interfere with the adhesive’s grip.

        4. Treatment (Protein and Intense Moisture)

Our protein and intense moisture treatments are designed to revive strands that feel dry, break easily, or shed more than usual, especially after colour or heat styling. Leave your hair in its natural, product free state (unless you’ve scheduled a wash) so the treatment can penetrate deeply. We’ll assess your hair’s needs on the spot and choose between a strengthening protein boost, a dry-scalp therapy, or a deep hydration mask that brings brittle hair back to life.

          5. Silk Press

This transforms natural curls into straight, glossy hair without chemicals. To make this process quick and effective, come with detangled hair free of heavy creams or oils. If you’re coming straight out of braids or another protective style, it is important to let us know so we can set aside extra prep time. We’ll shampoo, treat, and gently press your hair into that shine-on finish.

            6. Texture Release

This service gently loosens your curl pattern without fully straightening it. Texture release is perfect if you’re transitioning or want a softer texture without harsh relaxers. This smoothing system works best on hair that hasn’t been freshly washed or scratched, so hands off! Do not touch your hair. That way, the formula can do its job without interference from shampoo residue or a sensitive scalp.

              7. Colour Service (on Natural Hair)

When you book a colour service on natural hair, you’re getting a custom shade that complements your skin tone and style. Please show up with hair that’s clean and free of oils or heavy products. If you’re new to our colour services, we’ll do a quick strand test at least 5 days before your full appointment. This simple check helps us avoid surprises and ensures your hair reacts beautifully to the dye.

Arriving prepared means we can start creating the look you want immediately. If you have any questions beyond these tips, send us a message or book a quick consultation.
